My Approach
Honest work. No performance required.
The way I work is shaped by one core belief: that real change happens in honest conversation, not in following a programme someone else designed for you.
How I work
Every session starts where you actually are — not where you think you should be. We don't follow a fixed curriculum or work through a pre-set framework. Instead, we pay attention to what's alive for you right now: what you're avoiding, what you're circling, what you haven't been able to say out loud yet.
From there, the work is collaborative. I ask questions, reflect back what I hear, and help you build a clearer picture of what's going on and what you actually want. We set goals that are rooted in your values — not in productivity culture or someone else's definition of success — and we track progress in a way that accounts for the messy, non-linear reality of real life.
The foundation of this practice is emotional intelligence: the ability to recognise, understand, and work with emotions rather than around them. That means we don't bypass the hard feelings to get to the practical stuff. We work with both, because they're not separate.
What guides the work
Honesty over comfort
I won't tell you what you want to hear if it isn't true. Kindness and honesty aren't opposites — the most useful thing I can offer is a clear, compassionate reflection of what I actually observe.
Your pace, your direction
There's no agenda here but yours. We move at the speed that's right for you, and the direction of the work is always determined by what matters most to you — not by a coaching model or a predetermined outcome.
Practical and grounded
This isn't just about insight — it's about movement. Every session ends with a clear sense of what you're taking forward, whether that's a decision, a reframe, a boundary, or simply a question worth sitting with.
No judgment, full stop
Whatever you bring into the room — the contradictions, the things you're ashamed of, the parts of yourself you haven't shown anyone — this is a space where all of it is welcome.
Coaching vs. therapy — an important distinction
Sing to the Siren offers peer-based life coaching and emotional support. This is not therapy, counselling, or clinical mental-health treatment, and I am not a licensed therapist or mental-health professional.
Coaching is forward-focused: we work on where you want to go and what's getting in the way. Therapy often goes deeper into the past and is the appropriate support for trauma, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, and other mental-health conditions that require professional clinical care.
If you're unsure whether coaching or therapy is the right fit for you right now, I'm happy to talk it through honestly — including recommending therapy if that's what I think would serve you better.
